I think it says a lot about the impact, longevity and quality of those stories. As for odd-hour calf deliveries, I did my fair share (amongst other things) over the years, so I guess the stories were quite relevant to my life at the time. It would be fair to say there were other Adele Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15413445554710215786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5714557384991568904.post-79361567659942416652014-06-27T22:05:23.905+12:002014-06-27T22:05:23.905+12:00We must have great taste, Jeanette! :) Agreed, the...We must have great taste, Jeanette! :) Agreed, they are wonderful reads with enduring messages. Yes, that 'to-read' list! It just keeps getting longer. I wish I had more time for reading, but have done reasonably well this year with my reading time. That said, there are always more great books to add - which is a fantastic difficulty to have!Adele Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15413445554710215786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5714557384991568904.post-66175831447976557642014-06-27T21:58:15.544+12:002014-06-27T21:58:15.544+12:00They're great books, aren't they? Some books may take a day or two to read, but linger on in the heart and mind. Oh, to pen such words. (And yes, maybe even write a book that makes it to someone's Top 15 list.) Thanks, Nola.Adele Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15413445554710215786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5714557384991568904.post-44313373102268180452014-06-27T15:02:33.368+12:002014-06-27T15:02:33.368+12:00Hi Adele,

Hey, it's interesting that you aspired to be a vet based on James Herriot's tales, including all the deliveries of calves in the early hours of the morning and the mess it involved. Looking forward to your two books.Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5714557384991568904.post-79370008555624562952014-06-27T11:39:51.961+12:002014-06-27T11:39:51.961+12:00Hi Adele. Herriot would have me in stitches with his funny tales (and loved the TV series as well), Anne was a childhood friend and Joni, Anne Frank and Corrie Ten Boom all inspired me. And I can see I need to expand my ever growing 'to-read' list with many of the other fascinating titles you've mentioned.Jeanette O'Haganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11057798704247611224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5714557384991568904.post-28290967595186483772014-06-27T10:27:23.163+12:002014-06-27T10:27:23.163+12:00Great list Adele. Though my love of animals stops me reading any book (or watching any movie) with the slightest hint of anything happening to one of the animals. Have never made it past Ch 3 of Black Beauty and am still recovering from watching Lassie Come Home in my 30sNola Passmorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08425394685430146759noreply@blogger.com
